Two mismatched personal trainers' lives are upended by the actions of a new, wealthy client.

By Melissa Antoinette Garza

I only recently heard of this film, but the reviews have been extremely positive. Though still in cinemas, it is currently available for rent off Amazon streaming.

Results follows gym owner Trevor (Guy Pearce) and the complicated relationship he has with employee Kat (Cobie Smulders). When Danny (Kevin Corrigan) recently acquires a hefty inheritance from his estranged mother shortly after a divorce, he decides to use a portion of it to get personal lessons from Trevor's gym with the hopes of successfully being able to withstand a punch.

Despite Trevor being wary, Kat insists she takes the job as she wants more clients. Danny has an instant attraction to her and she's not completely uncharmed by him. After stopping by his house to get high, they have a romantic encounter which most certainly means more to Danny than to Kat. When she comes over for her next session, Danny has a jazz band and a romantic dinner waiting. She becomes furious and storms out.

She runs to Trevor who is jealous as he and Kat were former lovers. Though it's obvious Kat wanted more, Trevor whose philosophy is based on visualizing goals and attaining them, didn't see her as a long-term part of his life. Despite his own feelings and affection for her, he insists on keeping their relationship professional.

Trevor calls Danny to threaten him, and when Danny is unimpressed with the tactic, Trevor shows up at his house. The two end up getting along and Trevor even starts training Danny to become stronger.

They become such good friends that Danny purchases 50% of the business to help Trevor's goal of expanding become a reality. A falling out of sorts occurs when Danny discovers Trevor's feelings for Kat. This is done extremely well as it's not for the usual rivalry reasons seen within most films depicting two people who share an affection for the same person.

The focus isn't on a love triangle, but instead the existence of three decent yet flawed individuals and the way in which each person impacts the other. The strengths and weaknesses of the trio compliment one another and help each find success in all avenues of their lives.

From start to finish I enjoyed this movie immensely. It will certainly be one I purchase once available. The characters are believable in The acting both from the main players and the supporting cast is fantastic.

Giovanni Ribisi portrays a corporate lawyer Danny befriends in a bar trying to score weed. I've always loved Ribisi's work and have followed his career for years. Whereas friends of the main characters can sometimes be easily forgotten, Ribisi really brings out the eccentricity in his portrayal to ensure, it won't be soon forgotten.

Another side character who brought so much to the table was Danny's ex-wife Christine (Elizabeth Berridge). At one point Danny thinks about going back to his ex, despite objections from Trevor. Rather than making Christine a caricature of the evil ex, Berridge portrayed her as a genuine and sympathetic woman who cares enough to be there for Danny when he's trying to reassess his life.

Berridge is Kevin Corrigan's real-life wife. She also played beside him on Grounded for Life as his girlfriend Amy which of all Eddie's girlfriends was my favorite and the one who stands out the most. Amy was a hilariously demented character, and Berridge flawlessly walked the line keeping her sympathetic and crazy without making her a villain. I really hope to see Berridge in some new projects soon as she always adds so much to any production.

Both Guy Pearce and Cobie Smulders were fantastic in their roles. They shared great chemistry and portrayed each character with a level of realism and intelligence.

Smulders was tough as nails as Kat without going overboard into Tomb Raider style badass-ery. She calls out a woman for not paying her bill on time and eating a cupcake with such a nonchalant aura of confidence that was both hilarious and cutthroat.

Last but never least, Kevin Corrigan stole every scene he was in. Danny could have been easily portrayed as a joyless person. He's a little insecure, depressed, bored, lost contact with his mother for years before her death, tries too hard and fails with women – the list goes on and on. Corrigan breathes life into Danny with his expressions, mannerisms, and humor which makes for some of the funniest scenes in recent cinematic history. Corrigan is one of those few actors who when walking in a room immediately takes over the scene. In everything he's in, opposite anyone, he just has that capability. The attention is drawn to him like eyes to Fireworks on the 4th of July. It's like Henry Fonda in 12 Angry Men (1957) or Sidney Poitier in A Raisin in the Sun (1961). Even when on screen with the best in the business, everyone is watching them because they have a level of talent which is unsurpassed.

Sinister (2012)

Sinister (2012)

Washed-up true-crime writer Ellison Oswalt finds a box of super 8 home movies that suggest the murder he is currently researching is the work of a serial killer whose work dates back to the 1960s.
Director:
 Scott Derrickson.
Writers:
 Scott Derrickson, C. Robert Cargill.
Stars:
Ethan Hawke, Juliet Rylance, James Ransone.

Storyline

True-crime writer Ellison Oswalt moves himself and his family into a house where a horrific crime took place earlier, but his family doesn't know. He begins researching the crime so that he can write a new book about it to help his flailing career. He uses some "snuff" film footage he finds in the house to help him in his research, but he soon finds more than he bargained for. There is a figure in each of the films but who or what is it? As a result, his family start to suffer (as does he) and things take a turn for the worse. Will they survive?

This movie is a must watch for all the horror fanatics. I really did not expect it to be so good and after watching it am totally impressed. The the sound effects are amazing. The movie is so unconventional and different than most horror movies in a way that it makes you wonder if its a true story. Best part is that it makes you think and there are so many scenes wherein you just want to pause the movie because you just cant handle the intense suspense. Its a must watch and you will not regret for even a single moment, all the more a true horror movie fan would get peace of mind for a good deal of time before they would want to watch another spin chilling horror movie. A fantastic horror movie after a long time!!!

Minions (2015)

Minions (2015)
Minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob are recruited by Scarlett Overkill, a super-villain who, alongside her inventor husband Herb, hatches a plot to take over the world.

Directors:
 Kyle Balda, Pierre Coffin.
Writer:
 Brian Lynch.
Stars:
Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton.

Storyline

The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment's Minions begins at the dawn of time. Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters - from T. rex to Napoleon - the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression. But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he - alongside teen-age rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob - ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow. The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock), the world's first supervillainess ever. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in modern London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind...from annihilation.

I don't usually write reviews but this was such a disappointment that I felt I had to put something. Most of the good jokes were shown in the trailers, so if you've seen the trailer then it's probably not worth the money. There were 3 of us watched this and although we all loved the despicable movies none of us enjoyed this. My son (11) said it felt like it was 2 hours long it was so boring. I can't really explain why it came across as so poor - but it just seemed really lazy and without Gru to play against the Minnions were just to simple. It was slapstick with no soul. The music although quite good didn't really seem to fit the film - just seemed to be tacked on at bit were they felt they should have a soundtrack and a famous song. Buy yourself a copy of despicable me and watch it again and again. Much better value for money! This just felt rushed, with loads of stock jokes, maybe hoping enough of them would hit the mark - they didn't.

This movie from Walt Disney Pictures is great in its entertainment, direction, romance, perfect acting, amazing direction and script. It is hard for me to see how some people defame Walt Disney because of envy.

Cinderella is a top and successful movie that had already achieved more than 335 million US$ all over the world ( A very clear proof that Walt Disney Pictures are the best expert in making animation and excellent movies).

This film is a real terrific family movie you must all see whether you are children or adults.

Unknown to them however lurks yet another of her kind secretly living in the same small town. If they can capture both, then they would have the power to control a new species of werewolves and enslave the human race.

This film is awful. This film is beyond all descriptors or adjectives that could be used to imply how awful it is.

The dialogue is garbage. The plot is garbage. The CGI is garbage. The acting is garbage. The Music is garbage. The execution is garbage.

Nothing in this movie makes any sense. It has no internal logic. It neither sets any internal rules for how its universe is supposed to work, nor would it follow them if it did.

This film is the living incarnation of a 15-year old Goth kid's notebook sketches being realized with a budget enough to put CGI in.

The main cast dress like anime characters in a world populated by people dressed like normal human beings. They speak hokey garbage dialogue that sounds like it was intended to be deep. Garbage Nu- Metal-Lite plays throughout it constantly. If you like shoddy Linkin Park knockoffs, maybe the music is for you.

Everything about this movie was garbage, from beginning to end.

Don't let the myriad positive reviews previously here fool you - pure astroturfing by a marketing firm or the cast and crew themselves. Dozens of accounts created years ago with one review: Dark Moon Rising, using common talking points, and mentioning renting it on DVD in reviews all submitted the same day, long before the DVD is set to be released.

So not only is this movie the work of hacks, but also frauds.

Every part of this is garbage, do not debase yourself by watching it.

Storyline

Legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi and director Gil Kenan reimagine and contemporize the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is invaded by angry spirits. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and take the youngest daughter, the family must come together to rescue her.

I remembered watching the original one when I was young. It was a good horror movie for that time. Why they have to make a remake of certain movies now is something I don't get. Don't you have enough imagination to make a similar story attractive? Because let's be honest, this movie is an exact copy of the first one, except that this one is boring and not scary at all. Sam Rockwell is bugging me through the whole movie. Most of the lines looked forced and aren't played good. I wished I would have watched the original again instead of this useless remake. Is this a lesson to be learned? I don't know. What I know for sure is that the originals are almost always better. Don't waste your time on this one, just watch the original instead.

The weather is finally better, people are taking their clothes off all over the place and even though it is still spring time, summer movies are now officially kicking off and ladies and gentleman, we start this summer right with Fast Five. The Fast and Furious franchise is something of an acquired taste, a sort of guilty pleasure that hasn't really been shown the respect it has earned. It isn't known for any of the terms critics love to use when they complain about a movie, like intellectual dialogue, solid characterization or even anything remotely close to a thought provoking plot. No, what it excels in is another term that critics seem to have forgotten about. Popcorn, no that overpriced buttery stuff you get from a concession stand, I'm talking popcorn films! Energetic movies meant to entertain, a good solid waste of time! So what makes a good popcorn film? Well if this question is asked to the future filmmakers of tomorrow one need only to watch Fast Five to see a fine example of how to get it right. Director Justin Lin (who also directed the fast and the furious) makes a huge leap in directorial prowess by showing an incredible eye for action that every other director today should take note at. The man can film ACTION, and you know..In an action movie…that's kind of what you want and with that eye brings together an expendables version of the fast and furious franchise starring everyone's favorite fast and furious stars. Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel) and his crew find themselves on the wrong side of the law once again as they try to deal with a drug lord and a federal agent that's hot on their trail. So , um…back to talking about the action. It is INNNNcredible. Oh man this is my kind of action, I seriously have not seen this kind of solid , non computer generated action in a very very long time and Justin Lins camera work is top notch. Every shot is deliberate and clean. Oh…so good. Aside from the action the other thing that makes this film work is the stars. Everyone from The Rock to Ludicrous play their characters great and have their own moments to shine. While the movie does slow down in the middle to what looks like Ocean's Eleven meets Fast and Furious, the stars are what keep this movie was falling apart. The movie at times felt like a parody of action films, filled with cheesy cliché's that are sometimes so subtle you'll miss it but Linn will toss another scene in there in case you did and often in hilarious ways . The rock is just so great, it's these roles he should be taking, not the flying fairy kind, he's so great in this film I would love to see a spin off with this very character of his, this cocky nonsense guy who just knows everything, and he really does know everything. Frankly, that's the only two things that this movie has going for it. Action and pretty people and in a popcorn film, that's all you need. So this one is easy folks, for those with their noses in the air looking for only citizen Kane caliber films to entertain them, you should know better, you know a fast and furious movie isn't for you. It's a vapid film that would have been unwatchable had it not been for its action and star power. But it pulls off being entertaining. So if you're looking for adrenaline pumping action , seat rumbling roars of the hottest cars , beautiful people looking beautiful even when being shot at then you got yourself the definition of a popcorn film, meant to entertain you in every single way and this is popcorn done right.

It is good to see this movie doing well at the Box Office because it was a lot of good, clean, exciting fun. It was good to see Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and crew back together on film. This movie works, not because of the fun and exciting action scenes, but because it has a reasonable solid story as a foundation, dialog was natural for the characters and above all the movie dealt with the theme of loyalty between friends. Above all this is why, in my opinion, the movie is doing so well at the Box Office. Hollywood, please don't start to think that all it takes is bringing stars back on the set from older successful movies and then you will have a hit on your hands. People, including me, like this film above all because it deals with the loyalty between two friends, ever if they are on opposite sides of the law. Everyone of us that might be a potential audience member understands the importance of loyalty, friendship and the sacrifices you might be willing to make for each other. My advice to everyone is treat yourself and your wife to a nice night at the movies. Go catch this with some good friends or with your brother, brothers, sister, sisters, neighbor, work associate or anyone else you enjoy spending time with. Have fun at the theaters! This is one movie perfect for that good time at the movies!

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift(2006)

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift(2006)

A teenager becomes a major competitor in the world of drift racing after moving in with his father in Tokyo to avoid a jail sentence in America.

Director:

Justin Lin

Writer:

Chris Morgan

Stars:

Lucas Black, Zachery Ty Bryan.

Storyline

An American teenager named Sean Boswell is a loner in school, however he challenges his rival for an illegal street racing, and he totals his car in the end of the race. To avoid time in prison he is sent to Tokyo to live with his father who is in the military. As soon as he arrives he discovers a new, fun but dangerous way of street racing in the underworld of the streets of Tokyo, Japan.

What can I say about this movie that many haven't already noted? Well first of all I saw this movie twice, and probably shouldn't have. The cinematography was phenomenal and the racing sequences were jaw dropping. Unfortunately, this movie lacks substance. The storyline was really iffy and probably not likely to happen and the acting was a little shaky.

But thats not the reason why everyone goes to watch this movie. We all go to see the cars and the girls which fortunately delivers. Beautiful cars, beautiful ladies and beautiful scenery and destructive driving is never in short supply in this genre and the scenery of Japan is just breathtaking. All in all, just a movie you'll want to see with the boys.

Storyline

EX LAPD cop Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) teams up with his ex-con friend Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) and works with undercover U.S. Customs Service agent Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes) to bring Miami-based drug lord Carter Verone (Cole Hauser) down.

I've read some excellent, incisive comments, mostly critical of "2Fast 2Furious" on the pages of IMDb. These comments are much more artistically, technically and culturally incisive than what shows up on the pages of our commercial media. They all happen to be wrong, I believe, because I was here the last time major motion picture cultural earth changes came through, and I knew it that time, when most were still dismissing what were called "spaghetti" westerns and "chopsocky," martial arts films. The great films that emerged from these two cultural upheavals are now considered part of our mainstream culture. So will, the "cosmo/octane films," which combine elements of "Miami Vice," "Beach Party," auto racing movies and the black/white buddy picture. I read complaints about the element of "Asian Techno" being supplanted by "American metal". Guess what? The "hemi" is back, and I DO see a real challenge coming between "muscle" and "pocket rockets". Director John Singleton and his talented crew have made the most of the glamor possible through this "multicultural engineering". Thus we have hot men and women of all races and colors running around in "2Fast 2Furious". As Sergio Leone and his cohorts taught us "Faces can create a landscape," so here we have one of the most fascinating faces I've seen recently in the person of Devon Aoki. Devon doesn't get much to do, but she's there for the look and she DOES make the most of it. Eva Mendes has just the right mix of brains, class and lustiness to keep you guessing. Tyrese also has that look, kind of a Jamie Foxx with a lot more dangerousness. I wish Singleton had some way to give Tyrese more, 'cause he always seems to be coming out second place to Paul Walker in storyline. The plot of "2Fast, 2Furious", admittedly, does seem sort sort of like a bad CHiPs episode with Erik Estrada upstaging Larry Wilcox (AGAIN!!!). Styles, what count, though, and great driving.

Ah, and then there's Paul Walker. If I live long enough, I know I'm going to see Walker win an Oscar. Laugh? Remember the jokes about John Wayne and Clint Eastwood? Walker impressed me the first time I saw him. He was playing a heavy in "She's All That." Walker brought a vulnerability to that role, which made his character all the more dangerous. Here, Walker is cool, empathetic, sexy, dependable and dangerous, all at the same time. Just WHO else can you say that about? If Cosmo/Octane IS going to be a new phenomenon,Miami is going to be busy; and, as for Paul Walker, may I strongly suggest to Michael Mann to get his long-delayed "Miami Vice" feature rolling. "Mr. Mann, your 'Sonny Crockett' is waiting."

Storyline

Los Angeles street racer Dominic Toretto falls under the suspicion of the LAPD as a string of high-speed electronics truck robberies rocks the area. Brian O'Connor, an officer of the LAPD, joins the ranks of Toretto's highly skilled racing crew undercover to convict Toretto. However, O'Connor finds himself both enamored with this new world and in love with Toretto's sister, Mia. As a rival racing crew gains strength, O'Connor must decide where his loyalties really lie.
The Fast and the Furious comes at you like it says. It's not a long movie and really never slows down much at all! Those looking for a movie delving into a complex plot with in depth charachters need not watch it. The movie is as the preview shows, a lot of great car chase scenes held together by a loose form of a plot. It does what Gone in 60 Seconds only wishes it could do. In gone in 60 you have 2 scenes with cars driving fast at all. Here you have at least 6 or 7 distinctly different and memorable scenes. Although acting ability and some of the lines lack severely, this can be forgiven and is made up by the cars. This movie is perfect for anyone into speed and tuned import sports cars for the most part(yes, even the occasional despicable economy car made to "perform" is present)I saw the previews knowing this was going to be basically an adrenaline rush of a movie, and I gave it a 10 because that's what it delivered.
